UNICEF@USC presents Children of Heaven

27
Mar

In honor of Persian New Year, UNICEF@USC will be hosting a  screening of the film "Children of Heaven" by highly acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 pm in  Mudd Hall (SGM) 124.
This Iranian film focuses on the day-to-day poverty and inequality  that millions of Iranians live in, but through a unique perspective: that of children. This movie, which for the first time brought international attention on the Iranian film industry, tells the moving story of an impoverished brother and sister thrust into a difficult situation and shows their determination to succeed despite their extenuating circumstances. An emotional film, UNICEF@USC invites you all to come see it this Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 PM in SGM 124. There will also be FREE FOOD. Contact shams@usc.edu for information.

Launching New IGSA website

20
Mar

We are proud to announce launching the New IGSA website. We have always had the dream of being able to be the effective means of bringing USC Iranian students together while offering any relevant information to those Iranian students joining USC from other places. After more than 8 months of coordination and providing content, we are launching the new IGSA website as a Nowruz gift to all IGSA members.

The new website has a comprehensive set of features which makes it highly maintainable and effective. It contains details of all IGSA past and present events (from almost two years ago) as well as Contact information of “IGSA officers”. Also you can use the contact page to raise issues that concern officers and not the mailing list which will be received and reviewed only by current officers. We will use this website to post IGSA events and encourage all members to visit the site for the latest information on IGSA activities.

We have tried to design the site slick enough to attract foreign visitors and have compiled a set of beautiful shots from Iran under the “Our Homeland Iran” section.  Instructions regarding joining the IGSA “mailing list” are also provided in the website and it also features IGSA’s previous “Awards and Honors”. Finally, we have tried to gather relevant information for our Newcomers under the “Newcomers” section. As you all know, there is a long list of “to be done” tasks for newcomers and thus we are still complementing that page and truly appreciate any help from our fresh members to aid us in the process of making that page even more useful with the more updated informaiton.

This project owns itself to tens of hours of work by 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 officers and it was a collaborative project between two teams to make this happen. We have been blessed by the motivation from 2005-2006 officers Shabnam Dilmaghani, Parisa Ghaemi, Ali Khoshgozaran, Babak Kazerouni and Hossein Ataei to initiate this project beyond their responsibility at IGSA and respectfully thank them. We also truly thank all other members of IGSA for their valuable help, contribution and feedback in the process of launching this website. Wishing a great and prosperous Nowruz for all IGSA members,

IGSA
